Joshua Benson is a senior fellow at The Gibbons Institute and serves as an Associate Editor of the American Catholic Quarterly Review. He received his PhD in Historical Theology from St. Louis University in 2007, his MA in Franciscan Studies from the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University in 2002, and his BA in Philosophy from Canisius College in 2000, after completing three years of study at the Pontifical College Josephinum.
While at the Josephinum he developed a love for St. Bonaventure, which he subsequently pursued across his various degrees. He teaches and publishes on Bonaventure and figures related to him. He also teaches and publishes on American Catholic figures, like Robert Lax. Benson has served at CUA since 2008 and served at St. Bonaventure University between 2018 and 2020.
Studied with Fr. J.A. Wayne Hellmann, O.F.M. Conv. and James Ginther at St. Louis University; Studied with Fr. Michael Blastic OFM, Oleg Bychkov, Fr. Michael Cusato, OFM and Fr. Allan Wolter OFM at St. Bonaventure University. Mentored by Msgr. Frank Lane at the Pontifical College Josephinum.
